Trench coat project III

Description

This is the latest in a continuing saga of me trying to find/create the ultimate trench coat. To catch up, head over to the first version, here: [link]

Most of the research into this project for this revision went into the materials it would be made from.

I have done some serious research into machine made chain maille, and I currently think that 24 gauge 3/32in stainless steel would be perfect for a vest. That is of course assuming you can stomach the 300+ monies for it.

It took more searching then I expected, but I found a good selection of Kevlar thread: [link]

A while ago me and ~Piratical went looking for fabric and decided on a black tweed for the outer layer. I have also found Cotton ripstop fabric (used in military clothing, it stops rips with a special weave every 1cm) [link] and hemp [link]

For the inside, it might wind up being silk. If you are seriously looking at the expensive of chain maille, you might as well be looking at silk...

Anyway, as usual, if you have anything to input or any questions, please comment! If you do custom tailoring, we should talk, I would prefer to have someone who knows more about tailoring then me helping/being paid to do this.

USE: you can use any part of my design for anything. I cant tell you how happy it would make me if a real clothing company started taking parts from my design. Please inform me of its use however.

I've had to make like... six of those neck-flaps over the last two years. They're a massive pain in the ass. >_<;
