One of my summer projects this year has been chain maille. I order all of my stuff from TheRingLord.com ([link]), and I have been quite happy with the quality of their stuff.
However, due to the huge number of gauges, diameters, weaves, colors and materials, picking the right rings becomes time taking, and rather frustrating. I think this process would be made much easier if they actually had comparison pictures so that we could see all of the rings for our order...IN THE SAME SCALE!.
I even took the picture on graph paper. The smallest squares are 1/8th of an inch (3mm).
So, I took the time to grab a nice, high resolution, picture of the different rings I have an am messing with. I also ordered scaps of machine made maille because I am planning a "super trench coat" (see sketch here: [link]).
Anyway, I am not a veteran mailler by any stretch, but I would be happy to give anybody who is interested in trying this out or needs help ordering their rings in a "two idots are better than one" kinda way ^^.
There will be another photo of this spread posted shortly which will demo more weaves.

Hullo,I am interested in working with maille, but I think I would prefer to make my own rather than ordering. Have you tried doing that, if so, do you have any tips?
When working with the 16g, how difficult do you find putting them together? Are the ends supposed to match up perfectly?
